The YMCA’s School Age Child Care program provides children with a familiar place where they can be safe, active, learning and engaged during their time before and after school. Our programs are based on the four core values of the YMCA: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. The SACC Program is designed for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Activities are created to be inclusive and take into account all dimensions of diversity, including ethnicity, income level, and special needs and abilities. Programs for this age group complement and enhance formal education and provide learning opportunities that build relationships, develop character and inspire discovery to help foster children’s academic success. Activities include:

  • Homework Time

Spotsylvania Virtual Learning Center FAQ

YMCA staff and children will have their temperature taken upon arrival each day.
In addition, parents will be asked to complete the COVID-19 Screening Tool each morning at drop off. Any child of staff member with a temperature of 100 degrees or greater will be turned away immediately.
The doors will remain locked and monitored by a staff member at all times. For safety reasons, we will ask parents not to enter the areas where the children are located.
Groups will adhere to state licensing regulations, which require us to have a maximum of 21 children per group, as long as social distancing of 6 ft is maintained. When participating in group activities, children will be arranged with distance between them. Individual activity stations, like art, reading and puzzles will be encouraged. YMCA staff will encourage that children do not touch each other at all nor engage in planned activities that require touching or closeness, like tag. The YMCA will minimize time the participants stand in lines and enforce social distancing in these lines, if possible.
We will enforce increased hand-washing: staff and participant’s hands should be
washed/scrubbed a minimum of hourly, which has been proven by the CDC to be the most preventative measures.
Equipment and touch points will be wiped down with a disinfectant on a regular basis throughout the day. If possible, staff will avoid items with porous surfaces/ that are otherwise not able to be disinfected.
