Challenges, stimulation and fun ideas are what our school-age program is all about.  This age group has talents, skills to develop, energy, and huge reservoirs of creativity. Let our well-trained SACC staff work with your child to help him/her grow through our activities.  Each activity incorporates at least one of our core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility!  At the Y, we are for Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility!

Introducing YMCA Virtual Learning Centers

We are so excited to welcome your children back to the YMCA SACC program this fall! We understand that the upcoming school year will bring challenges to many working parents and we are preparing in conjunction with our school districts on ways to best support students. Our Virtual Learning Centers are designed to offer consistent care that meets children’s social, emotional, and academic needs while supporting working parents.

  • All day care will support each district’s fall learning model with virtual learning built into daily schedules.
  • Thorough entry screening, distancing, and cleaning procedures to keep children and staff safe and healthy.
  • Licensed by the State of Virginia
  • Experienced and trained staff

HOW WILL WE KEEP YOUR KIDS AND OUR TEAM SAFE?

• ENTRY SCREENING PROCESS
YMCA staff and children will have their temperature taken upon arrival each day.
In addition, parents will be asked to complete the COVID-19 Screening Tool each morning at drop off. Any child of staff member with a temperature of 100 degrees or greater will be turned away immediately.
• DOOR SECURITY PROCEDURES
The doors will remain locked and monitored by a staff member at all times. For safety reasons, we will ask parents not to enter the areas where the children are located.
• SOCIAL DISTANCING
Groups will adhere to state licensing regulations, which require us to have a maximum of 21 children per group, as long as social distancing of 6 ft is maintained. When participating in group activities, children will be arranged with distance between them. Individual activity stations, like art, reading and puzzles will be encouraged. YMCA staff will encourage that children do not touch each other at all nor engage in planned activities that require touching or closeness, like tag. The YMCA will minimize time the participants stand in lines and enforce social distancing in these lines, if possible.
• HEALTH PRECAUTIONS
We will enforce increased hand-washing: staff and participant’s hands should be
washed/scrubbed a minimum of hourly, which has been proven by the CDC to be the most preventative measures.
• CLEANING & SANITIZATION
Equipment and touch points will be wiped down with a disinfectant on a regular basis throughout the day. If possible, staff will avoid items with porous surfaces/ that are otherwise not able to be disinfected.
