FREDERICKSBURG, VA – The Rappahannock Area YMCA is celebrating 30 years of hosting their annual Turkey Trot race on November 24, 2022. The Turkey Trot consists of a 5K Run/Walk and a Youth 1-Mile run/walk in downtown Fredericksburg.
The race is held on Thanksgiving morning and has become a highly anticipated tradition for many Fredericksburg residents and their guests looking to kick off the holiday with a brisk run before sitting down to their annual feasts.
In a throw-back to the race’s inaugural decade, the Turkey Trot will feature a 90s theme. Participants are encouraged to dress festively if they would like to. The YMCA also debuted a new turkey mascot this year that is sure to be a hit with the kids.
This year’s 5K is generously sponsored by Mary Washington Healthcare and Atlantic Builders. The Youth 1-Mile is generously sponsored by the Coker family.
Proceeds raised help fund vital YMCA programs and services that empower youth, improve community health, and provide support to our community’s most vulnerable.
This year, in addition to raising funds for the YMCA, $3 from every race registration will be split among five area non-profits: Ainsley’s Angels, Hope House, Thurman Brisben, Fairy Godmother Project, and Micah Ministries.
