Homeschool Fitness is a great way to work physical activity, health and wellness, and socialization into your homeschool curriculum. Our homeschool fitness program is designed to teach children key aspects of various sports and activities with a focus on helping children develop strong muscles, cardiovascular endurance, and flexibility. Classes have both an instructional element as well as time for the children to play classic sports and games. Homeschool Fitness is free for YMCA members and $6 per class for non-members.

Healthy Living
Regular physical activity helps to improve muscle strength and endurance as well as boosting kids’ immune systems, ensuring proper blood circulation, and making for sufficient oxygen. Incorporating a fitness program will help kids develop healthy habits that will last them a lifetime!
Socialization
Our program offers children and their families and great opportunity to interact with others in the homeschool community. In addition to physical activity, children will develop teamwork and sportsmanship skills through play with their peers.
Better Focus
Research shows that physical activity has a positive effect on concentration in young people. This effect has been shown after various forms of physical activity including walking, running and team games (such as football and basketball).

“My children have attended homeschool PE at the YMCA (HSPE) for about four years. I’ll freely admit that I’m not a “sports mom.” My lack of sports knowledge and skill combined with my complete disinterest in sitting around hours every weekend for games is a losing combination for my kids! Keeping my children involved in HSPE has allowed them to learn new sports skills, enjoy competition, and also develop friendships outside our day-to-day social circles. A++ Highly recommend.”
