Program Registration

The Rappahannock Area YMCA’s programming is driven by our mission to create opportunities for all in our community to live, grow, and thrive. We have an expansive catalog of offerings from youth and adult sports, to swim lessons, to lifeguard certification and more. Visit our Programs page to check out everything we have to offer.

All members and guests must present a Y membership card or photo I.D. to access a facility.

A membership can be put on hold for up to 3 months in a calendar year. A request to hold can be made at our Welcome Center and must be completed 30 days prior to your next scheduled draft.

While we would hate to see you go, you can cancel your membership at any time. A request to cancel must be made in writing and must be completed 30 days prior to your next scheduled draft. You submit written notice in person or by mailing a written request to your branch.

Should any membership draft be declined for any reason, the account will be automatically re-drafted for any payment of a draft not honored. The member is responsible for that payment plus a service charge at the current rate, applied by the YMCA. This is in addition to any service fee my bank may charge.

Children under 10 may not use any part of the facility without being directly accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Children 10-12 may use the gymnasium on their own, as long as their parent/guardian is in the building and they are engaged in an activity. Children between the ages of 10-12 may use the pool if they pass the swim test without supervision. This privilege can be revoked for inappropriate behavior at any time.

Children 13+ may use the facility without a parent or guardian in the building. This privilege can be revoked for inappropriate behavior at any time.

Children age 12+ may participate in group fitness classes, but ages 12-13 must be accompanied by a parent.

Secure your valuables; the YMCA is not responsible for lost, stored or stolen articles or money. Locker rooms are available but we do not provide locks – please bring one with you.

Lockers may be available for rent at your branch. Contact your branch welcome center for more information.

For safety, members using the wellness/fitness facilities must wear shoes that cover the entire foot (no sandals or flip-flops).

For respect of all members, appropriate workout attire must be worn during exercise and all areas of the facility.

Youth orientations are required for children ages 10-14 to use the Wellness Centers. Children under age 13 must be accompanied by a parent. Must be age 15+ to use free weights.

Family includes the enrollee, spouse/partner, and legal dependents as defined by the IRS. The YMCA reserves the right to ask for the most recent copy of the 1040 form or other documentation in order to verify.

Weapons of any kind are prohibited at all Rappahannock Area YMCA locations and programs. Failure to comply can result in revocation of membership.

The Rappahannock Area YMCA requires an alcohol, drug, and tobacco-free environment. No alcohol consumption, smoking, dipping or other usage of tobacco is allowed in our building, at our pools, in our parking lot or on our grounds. In addition, using E-cigs, pipes and vapor products on our grounds is also prohibited.

  • Secure your bags, keys and other valuables in a locker with a lock. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen property. We do keep lost and found items whenever possible. Please inquire at the Welcome Center if you are missing something.

To aid the effort in our ability to provide a safe and threat-free environment, the YMCA monitors sexual offender registries. Persons on the list will not be eligible for Y membership, program participation, volunteer or employment opportunities at the Rappahannock Area YMCA.

If you have an accident, injury or incident while visiting the YMCA, contact a staff member immediately so that we can help. Our facility is equipped with AED devices and our staff team is trained in CPR, AED, and basic first aid.

It is important to us that our staff teams have the opportunity to spend time with their family and friends on holidays. With that in mind, all YMCA locations follow adjusted hours for many holidays.

All facilities are closed on July 4th, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Please check our app or call the Welcome Center for hours of operation on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Program fees are set to provide quality services and represent the cost of providing activities or services not included in your membership dues. YMCA members receive preferred rates on programs. For your convenience, online program registration is available on our website.

Every day, the Rappahannock Area YMCA offers quality, affordable programs and services designed to benefit people of all incomes and backgrounds. The Y uses contributed funds from our Annual Campaign to ensure that those unable to pay the stated amount for a membership or program can participate. Those unable to pay the full fee may receive Financial Assistance based on their ability to pay and the Y’s ability to support. All records are kept confidential. Please visit our Income Based Membership page or your branch Welcome Center for more information.
